Behind the Ponies and Pipsqueaks paddocks where we do our Pony Sessions for younger children is a beautiful field we used for Sogol’s Equine session with Sitka. It doesn’t offer much in the way of shade so we waited for the golden hour and shot in the evening when the sun was low in the sky. By doing this we got incredible rich tones and hints of gold. Sogol arrived in the cutest dress that was a perfect canvas for the additional props and accessories Krista prepared. Safety is always the number one priority, and cowboy boots are the perfect mix of safety (closed toe shoes are a must around horses!) and fashion. To create variety in the look of the images we added a cowboy hat and rope, as well as a gorgeous cream coloured lace kimono and decadent blue flower crown. The back field offers a huge variety of backdrop and light which we utilized fully. From fences to the open sky, we used it all! Sitka was fabulous to work with. He’s a big chestnut full of personality, and highly motivated by the carrots in Krista’s hand! I love the contrast of his big powerful presence and Sogol’s delicate femininity. I couldn’t get enough of shooting this session and only stopped when the sun made me! Client Wardrobe provided by Ponies and Pipsqueaks
