Tessa had the joy of starting riding lessons at age 6 with her older brother. Throughout her childhood and teen years she rode on a casual basis after quickly realizing competition was not for her! In 2004, after graduating from highschool, she put riding on hold and moved from Nanaimo to Courtney to attend the Professional Photography program at North Island College.
Upon graduating from North Island College she began her photography career as a Second Shooter during weddings for Nicole Williams Photography. While continuing to work for Nicole, Tessa attended Pacific Design Academy for their Graphic Design program.
In 2008 Tessa accompanied 10 graduating students from the University of Saskatchewan Veterinary Program on a month long trip to Uganda where they worked with local veterinarians to learn about the local wildlife and the various issues and concerns they face. Tessa documented their experiences through film, digital photography, and video.
In 2011 Tessa welcomed her first child, and in 2013 her second. Photography and graphic design turned into a part-time casual business as she focused on raising her young children. Now, as her children enter their pre-teen years and need her presence less intensely, she is returning to her love of horses, photography, and graphic design.
Tessa has designed logos and marketing material for client’s such as Winchelsea Veterinary Services, Katerina’s Olive Grove, RightSide Studio, and Ponies and Pipsqueaks. She has photographed nearly every category, from newborns and maternity to weddings and family sessions.
